I decided on a pink paper background that I set up with a crate, some letter spelling, “ONE” and a few ballons to keep Madison interested and feel at home when she arrived.
I was so excited to see her face when the cake was presented. Would she rush in and smash it up in a delightful frenzy or would she be a little bit more apprehensive and need a little encouragement..or even worse, cry at the attention and strange environment. I decided to let her play on her arrival and get used to the ballons and background. Mum and Dad were both encouraged to sit in the space too.
Once she was confortable, I asked Dad to take her outside and Mum brought out the cake, a wonderful cake made by The One Who Bakes from Leyland, Lancashire – their FBook site is here: The One Who Bakes.
Once we had the cake set up, Maddy was brought back in and wow..was she excited?! She did need a little bit of encouragement but once she got her feet wet ( with cream and sponge! ), she got stuck in and got very very messy!
I would definitely recommend a Cake Smash for your 1 yr old. It is a timeless and beautiful event that you and your family can look back on in many years to come.
